About Chinese Astrology
The ancient art of Chinese astrology has been in use for at least 5,000 years. Many modern day Chinese still refer to it when making decisions regarding compatibility, marriage, career, and so on.
Chinese astrology has 12 animal signs, 4 time signs (year, month, day and hour) and 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water). For example, one may be a metal Rooster (year sign), an earth Sheep (month sign), a water Ox (day sign), and a fire Tiger (hour sign). It is a very complex field of study as well!
Chinese astrology adheres to the system of yin and yang. Yin is characterized by the feminine, moon, and passiveness. Yang is the masculine, sun, and activeness. Since ancient times, the Chinese have believed that these two forces control the universe, establishing balance.
A symbol which embodies the yin and yang is the “Tai Chi” (the symbol in the background of the home page). The circle shows how balance is maintained when the two forces work together to create a whole – neither one overpowering the other, but joined in a way that establishes harmony.
